Public Sector Digital Marketing Summit

A number of weeks back I had the pleasure of working at the first Public Sector Digital Marketing Summit in the Mansion House Dublin with Joanne Sweeney Burke and her team from The Digital Training Institute and the founder of the www.publicsectormarketingpros.com. This summit was the first of its kind in Ireland and filled a "massive void in Knowledge and skills, education and empowerment for digital communications" in the public sector.

The day was filled with fantastic content from leading champions in the Public Sector space. They spoke about how Ireland’s public sector is undergoing a digital transformation with in-house marketing and communication staff embracing social media and digital communications. They also highlighted how public sector organisations can, and should be defending the truth in the era of fake news.

My role on the day was to interview each of the speakers in the Green Room about how they thought the changes were occurring in their organization. What were the key takeaways for the audience from their presentations and what advice would they give to colleagues and businesses about Digital Transformation.

The overriding response we received from the interviewees was to embrace the way we can now communicate with our audiences, add value and get senior executives on board and to buy into Digital Transformation.

Here is a list of the Speakers we talked to on the day.
Andrew McLindon: Director of Communication, An Garda Siochana
Kirsten Connolly: Assistant National Director of Communication, HSE
Sharon Campbell: Deputy Head of Communication, Trinity College Dublin
Barry Kenny: Corporate Communications Manager, Irish Rail
Lisa Smith: Founder of EngageSmith & Creator of Generation Index
Paul O'Kane: Cheif Communication Officer, DAA
Marie Davis: Head of Google Marketing Solutions Google Ireland
Dr Aileen McGloin Interim Director of Marketing & Communication, Seafood
Sinead Coyne: Communications Manager, Marine Institute & Seafest

The Public Sector Digital Marketing Summit has been devised for senior decision makers, managers, marketing, PR, digital, web, social media or communications professionals in the public sector including Government departments, health service, tourism, local authorities, education bodies, policing, political staff, local enterprise offices and non-commercial state agencies.

After the success of the Dublin Summit Joanne has decided to bring the event to Brussels, I am definitely looking forward to the next one. Watch out Brussels the Digital Army are on their way.
